It has been an exceptional year for science, with news of the Higgs boson, the appearance of the Curiosity rover on Mars and recent changes to our knowledge of our very own origins, to mention just a few major developments. In the pages of recent Scientist we now have explored these and many other fascinating stories - in the inner workings of memory towards the very nature of reality. From this type of bumper crop of fascinating science, we asked our readers to explore further in the arena of fiction.
