Rysher Entertainment suing Cox Media Group over 'Nash Bridges'
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 () -- Rysher Entertainment filed a lawsuit against Cox Media Group in Los Angeles saying Cox owes Rysher for a lawsuit brought by "Nash Bridges" star Don Johnson.Johnson was awarded $15 million in February after he sued Rysher for profits from the "Nash Bridges" series, which aired from 1996 to 2001 and included 122 episodes.Johnson argued in the lawsuit he was entitled to half-ownership of the series if it lasted at least 66 episodes.Rysher,Chaussure Gucci Homme, Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner's 2929 Entertainment and Qualia Capital are now suing Cox, from which an affiliate of 2929 bought the series in 2001, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday. The lawsuit says Cox guaranteed $71.4 million in production expenses would be withheld from Johnson's share of the profits."In upholding the $15 million damages award, the court of appeal cited a single justification for the award: that the write-down by Cox eliminated $71 million in production costs for purposes of calculating profits generated by 'Nash Bridges,' " the lawsuit states.Rysher is suing Cox for the $15 million it had to pay to Johnson, $20.7 million for lost future revenue and $8.3 million in attorneys fees, The Hollywood Reporter said.
