Chicago residents hope music festival doesn't return
CHICAGO, May 26 () -- Organizers of the Electric Daisy Carnival dance music festival in Chicago said they would turn down the volume after complaints from nearby residents.Neighbors from Mokena, New Lenox, Elwood, Joliet and Frankford, Ill., lodged complaints Saturday after the first night of the three-day festival held at the Chicago Speedway, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Sunday.Residents from as far as 7 miles from the speedway said they could hear the booming of the music and fireworks Friday night, the newspaper said."It drove you crazy," said Joliet Township resident Diane Sharp. "I'm hoping that this will never happen again, that there will be enough complaints that they won't bring it back here."This is the first time the annual festival was held in Chicago. Last year's event was in Las Vegas.Representatives of the festival's promoter, Insomniac Productions, promised Saturday to reduce the volume and implement a curfew for nightly fireworks."Late last night, when we first learned about the noise complaints, we immediately lowered the sound at all of our stages by 33 percent," said Jennifer Forkish, christian louboutin sale, a spokeswoman for Insomniac Productions. "We are moving the fireworks show 3 hours earlier to help reduce late-night noise."
