For the commute home on Tuesday evening I reached for the old standby, the BodyFit Pro Summer Race jersey in the Saxo 2011 colors. I love that piece.The jersey was initially developed last year for Team Saxo Bank – Tinkoff Bank for the hot and mountainous stages in the Giro, Tour and Vuelta. Just like the Summer Race Jersey name suggests: big mountains,[url=http://www.motorcyclejacketmall.com/topichtml/belstaff-jacket-sale.html]belstaff jacket sale[/url], hot weather. It immediately became my most used jersey right through the summer. You know how you have that jersey and pair of shorts that you use as soon as they come out of the wash And you only use other stuff when your favorites are dirty, or being saved for that long ride for the weekend That's how the BodyFit Pro Summer Race jersey was for me all last summer, even though I usually don't really like wearing pro team replica kits. This one is that good.Our starting point in creating this jersey was Saxo's Aero Race jersey and then we came up with a ridiculously light weight 100% polyester fabric for the main body. The fabric only weighs 70 g per square meter, about half of a normal jersey fabric. Then we put a stretch mesh over the shoulders that gives it this magical fit that's close to body but really cool and ventilated. The aero race jersey is a 3/4 hidden zipper, but we put a full length YKK Vislon zipper on the Summer Race jersey because it's lighter and on those hot days it's nice to open up, even though Bjarne Riis has laid down the law that no riders are to race with their jerseys unzipped.This jersey has 4 advantages over everything else I've ever used. First it's incredibly light weight. And it absorbs way less moisture than a normal jersey, so the advantage is even bigger when you're sweating up your local Alpe d'Huez.The second advantage is that it's the coolest, fastest drying jersey we've ever made. That 40km ride home on Tuesday evening was still 30° (86°F) and took me up over the climb at Incino, and not more than 500m into the descent I was completely dry already. Amazing.Third is the spectacular fit of this jersey. Just the right mix of a aero close-to-body cut, but with the maniacal attention to details with the soft, stretchy fabrics that disappear when you have it on to the finishing like the raw cut sleeves that you don't even feel when you have it on..The fourth thing is something we totally didn't expect. Just out of curiosity we threw this into the wind tunnel last time we went to try other products. We were surprised to see the data that confirmed what I had already felt on the road: this thing is fast.
