Calsonic Kansei North America to expand three facilities in the state
NASHVILLE, Sept. 3 () -- Auto parts supplier Calsonic Kansei North America said it would expand three plants in Tennessee and add 1,200 jobs in the state.The company and the governor's office announced the expansion plans Tuesday.The Nashville Business Journal reported that the jobs would be created with a $57.6 million investment at Calsonic's factory in Shelbyville,[url=http://www.jimmychoooutletonlines.com/Jimmy-Choo-Boots-2/]Jimmy Choo Boots Outlet[/url], a $49.8 million investment in a plant in Lewisburg and a $2.1 million upgrade to a plant in Smyrna.The Shelbyville plant, which manufactures exhaust units, catalytic converters and manifolds, will hire 489 additional workers over a three year stretch. The Lewisburg plant, where electronic components for meters, inverters and dash electronics are made, will add 526 jobs over three years. The final expansion at Smyrna will add 183 workers, the company said.Calsonic's operation in Smyrna is located inside a Nissan assembly plant, the Journal said."We are grateful to Calsonic Kansei for this significant investment that is creating more than 1,000 Tennessee jobs," Gov. Bill Haslam said in a statement."Along with supporting existing businesses, a big part of our economic development strategy is to focus on the things we do well, and this expansion further solidifies our state's leadership in auto manufacturing," the governor said.
