U.S. says printable gun plans may violate arms-control regulations
WASHINGTON, May 10 () -- The U.S. government has demanded designs for a 3-D printed gun be taken offline, the company offering the plans on its website said Friday.Cody Wilson, founder of Defense Distributed, louboutin shoes sale, said he received a letter from the State Department Thursday, ordering him to remove from the Internet blueprints for several 3-D printable weapons, christian louboutin pigalle, ABC News reported Friday. In the letter the State Department suggested publishing them online may have breached arms-control regulations, Wilson said. The letter demanded the designs be "removed from public access" until Wilson could prove putting the files online and letting people outside the United States download did not violate laws governing shipping weapons overseas."In accordance with the Arms Export Control Act, any person who engages in the U.S. in the business of manufacturing or exporting defense articles, furnishing defense services, or engages in arms brokering covered by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is required to register with the State Department (via the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls)," a State Department spokesperson said in an email to ABC News.Although the files have been removed from the Defense Distributed website, they were still accessible on a number of file-sharing sites such as Mega and the Pirate Bay, ABC news said.
