Three cars burglarized in Millburn municipal parking lot

In other police news, on Feb. police responded to a Hickory Road residence on a report of a burglary. The homeowner reported hearing noises on the first floor and when he went downstairs to investigate he found a rear dining room window was open. The area was searched with the assistance of a K-9 team from the Essex County Sheriff Department. A laptop computer, Blackberry, iPod and a purse containing credit cards and $200 in cash were reported stolen. on Jan. 30 police and members of the Millburn Fire Department
responded to Slayton Field located at the corner of Glen Avenue and Cypress Street on reports of a small fire. It was further reported that juveniles were setting off fireworks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. An officer extinguished a small fire that was burning between the chain link fence of the park and a wooden fence on the property of a Myrtle Avenue residence,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. A small portion of the fence had been burned,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The remnants of a firework were found in proximity to the fire,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. No suspects were located.
On Jan. resulting in 18 crash reports. Many of the incidents,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], originally reported as crashes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], were for cars that had either spun out or became stuck on the road and in one instance a motorist was having a panic attack. Some motorists left the scene prior to police arrival. The New Jersey State Police handled several of the reported crashes on Route 24 and four motorists responded to police headquarters to pick up completed motor vehicle accident reports.
On Jan. police stopped a vehicle with tinted front windows on Route 24. Investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Keasam S. Johnson, 25, of Newark and the passenger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Jimmy C. Ellis,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 33,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], of East Orange for allegedly possessing marijuana. Johnson was charged with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ellis was charged with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana. Ellis also posted $445 bail on an unrelated Millburn warrant.
On Jan. police assisted security officers of the Mall at Short Hills in the investigation of suspicious activity at the mall. One juvenile was alleged to have removed $26.85 worth of coins from the glass ball fountain located inside the mall. It was further reported that a second juvenile dropped bags of merchandise and ran after being approached by security officers. It is alleged that the bags contained stolen merchandise from Hollister valued at $336.80 and Abercrombie Fitch valued at $56.70. Both juveniles, age 15, from Newark,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], were taken into custody. One youth was charged with theft,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], shoplifting and receiving stolen property. The second juvenile was charged with shoplifting and receiving stolen property.
