Patty Murray's 'tennis shoe mom' image,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
A conservative group launched a new ad today that uses Washington Sen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Patty Murray's image as a "mom in tennis shoes" to attack the Democrat's record in Congress,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
The ad,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], from the American Action Network,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], shows a woman in dirty sneakers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], stepping on the backs of several people as they wince painfully.
"Oh Patty,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we had such high hopes that you were different,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one of us,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," a female narrator intones. "Then,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you wore your tennis shoes out on our backs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," the ad says,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], arguing that Murray's actions in Congress have increased taxes on small business and resulted in job losses.
The ad seeks to cast the three-term senator as a career politician out of touch with home-state concerns,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], by reminding voters of her image as a plain-spoken,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sneaker-clad mother of two from her 1992 Senate campaign. The statewide ad buy comes amid a wave of anti-incumbent sentiment that has resulted in the defeat of several lawmakers in primaries this year.
Dino Rossi,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a former gubernatorial candidate,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and ex-NFL player Clint Didier are among the Republicans vying for the chance to take on Murray in November.
The American Action Network is headed by GOP former Minnesota senator Norm Coleman and is organized as a nonprofit political group that does not have to disclose its donors,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
In a statement,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Coleman said: "We are educating the people of Washington about her record and urging them to tell Ms. Murray to get off the backs of Washington small business and families."
