Hurricane Barbara weakens as it reached Mexican oil hub
MIAMI, May 30 () -- The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Hurricane Barbara had weakened Thursday to a tropical depression after moving over a Mexican oil hub.Barbara made landfall Wednesday in the Mexican state of Chiapas as a Category 1 hurricane, with top winds of 75 mph. The center of the hurricane was about 80 miles east of Salina Cruz,[url=http://www.moncleroutleto.co.uk]moncler outlet[/url], Mexico,[url=http://www.moncleroutleto.co.uk]moncler uk[/url], the site of the country's largest oil refinery.The National Hurricane Center said Barbara weakened to a tropical depression after it made landfall. The storm was moving north at 8 mph and had sustained winds of around 35 mph.State-owned petroleum company Petroleos Mexicanos, known also as Pemex, said the refinery in Salina Cruz was operating normally.The Houston Chronicle reports that it is "unlikely" Barbara will strengthen into a hurricane after it passes over Mexico into the Gulf of Mexico.The hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean begins June 1 -- Sunday -- and runs through Nov. 30.
