Kids clothing cost
We spend about $300/year on our kids clothes-per child.
My 5 yo DD wears pretty much gap,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], TCP,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and gymboree clothing. But it's bought either at goodwill or garage sales. We also only buy 10 school outfits and have weekend play clothes. I pay $4/dress at goodwill, and generally less at garage sales.
DS wears target jeans,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], beucase they last (they get washed once a week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], give or take for 7 months and generally don't get lighter knees until month 6) and I can get them on sale for $7/ a pair. Again, we buy 10 pairs.
Shirts I buy one size up and get two seasons out of them,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
I've gotten lucky with shoes. DS gets one pair of new nikes a year (the old ones are used for play until they are outgrown or trashed) at a cost of $30. He also gets a new pair of dress shoes (I've gotten those on sale or clearance for $10-20) and sandals. Last year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], two pairs on sale at stride rite for a total of $40.
We belong to REI and use the dividend money (ie,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], credit card rewards0 to pay for the kids coats and mittens. So,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], DS generally wears $100+winter coats,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but we don't pay a dime for it.
Bi-yearly consignment shop. Where I live there is a REALLY great one I go on the last day when everything is 1/2 off! Like-new sometimes new clothes for $1-$3! I also shop a lot online at The Children's Place. About once every month or so they have free shipping days. Shop their clearance section use an additional 20% coupon code you're getting really nice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], new clothes for Goodwill prices! My kids are always dressed really nice I pay next to nothing for their clothes. It pays to shop/plan ahead.
I only buy clearance and super good sales with coupons. I always buy a season ahead and buy stuff that can overlap seasons. For example,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Carter's and old navy have great layering long sleeve shirts (or onesies when they're infants) so then I just buy tshirts to go over them. I don't spend more than $3 for tshirts (unless it's a team shirt or holiday shirt),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], $5-6 for long sleeve shirts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and $8 for pants. Ds us wearing the same jeans this fall that he wore in the winter/spring. We may need a few more pairs of jeans if he grew too much (some of his jeans were 24 months, not 2t).
Anyway,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], how much do little kids really need? Ds had plenty of stuff he rarely wore. Mil does give us a lot but I think we could clothe our kids for $100 or less per year per kid.
