Kerala to lease out land to personal IT developers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Chennai: A departure from developer of knowledge technology (IT) infrastructure to lessor model and concentrate on spreading e-governance activities across the state are going to be the major feature of Kerala government's proposed IT policy to be announced soon, said a top government official.
"Instead of building infrastructure we have chose to discrete the land on long lease for infrastructure developers who'll build the area required for IT companies. The federal government would lease out the land for 90 years at a fixed interest rate," PH Kurian, principal secretary,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Department from it and Public Works Department,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], told IANS in Chennai on Monday.

According to Mr Kurian,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the federal government has around 600 acres and the other 400 acres in public-private development mode.
"Our rate is going to be much lower than what other states are offering," Mr Kurian added.
The advantage of this insurance policy is the fact that private developers won't build infrastructure but will also generate companies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Mr Kurian said land for commercial space in IT parks would also be leased out similarly for developers to build malls,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], multiplexes and other amenities.
"The state continues to be building infrastructure and marketing the space till now. We can do that only up to and including certain limit. With the new way, we hope to determine more IT investments coming to Kerala," Mr Kurian said.
He explained the government would bid out land under the proposed insurance policy for mall and multiplex in Technopark Phase 3,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
According to him,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the state is targeting multi-national companies (MNC) operating in the advanced technology arena to find their Indian centres in Kerala.
He said Kerala isn't experiencing any slowdown in IT investments.
On the e-governance front,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mr Kurian asserted their state would bring three more districts underneath the e-district project next month and all 14 districts towards the end of this fiscal.
