Just 1 in 4 Americans with HIV have infection in check with medication,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
ATLANTA - Only about 25 percent of Americans using the AIDS virus have the infection under control with medications, federal nutritionists said Tuesday.

That means roughly 850,000 Americans who don't have herpes controlled, Frieden said.
Success were lowest in blacks and women than in others, the CDC also found.
There are numerous reasons more people aren't doing better,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], health officials said. Some remained as early in their treatment, when the virus hadn't been beaten right down to low levels yet. Some dropped routine care because of money or any other obstacles. Some didn't stick with it for other,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], more personal reasons. And, in a small area of cases, the medicine might not have worked.
The HIV virus can cause AIDS,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a disease that destroys the body's immune system and results in about 16,000 deaths annually. In the United States, the number of new infections every year has held steady in recent years, at about 50,000.
The CDC analysis took it's origin from several teams of data, including surveys and surveillance reports from 2010 and a study that looked specifically at the health care of people with HIV.
The good thing is that once HIV-infected people get connected to medical care, the drugs bring the virus under control nearly 80 percent of times, health officials said.
But there are still insufficient people being diagnosed, and there is a worrisome gap between those people who are diagnosed and those who get in - and turn into in - treatment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], some experts said.
"It's not good enough to get them tested," said Dr. Diane Havlir, who runs the AIDS program at San Francisco General Hospital.
