Book reveals Kevin our mouth PM,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Leading political analyst Peter van Onselen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who gained national attention for a candid book on John Howard last year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], destroys the goody-two-shoes image of Mr Rudd by revealing he often uses the ``F word'' at work.
Dr van Onselen said there was a lot more to Mr Rudd than the church-going politician who was elected as Prime Minister last year.
``There are two Kevin Rudds. There is the Kevin Rudd that his staff gets to see and there is the Kevin Rudd that the Australian public voted for -- and they are very different,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
``He prefers not to swear in front of women,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but does in front of men.
``Some of his staff are angered by the hypocrisy of him criticising others who use foul language when he does so himself behind closed doors,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
``What's interesting about this is that it was Mr Rudd who kicked people out of the Labor Party for use of foul language.
``Union boss Dean Mighell was kicked out of Labor by Kevin Rudd because he used foul language.
``Swearing certainly isn't a hanging offence. But what interests me is the difference between what the public sees and how Mr Rudd conducts himself in his private office,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
``I noted during my research that Mr Howard rarely swore in public or private.''
Mr Rudd's foul mouth is exposed in Howard's End,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which looks at Mr Rudd's rise to power and the eventual fall of former prime minister Howard.
The book details the lengths to which Mr Rudd went to win the leadership of the Federal Opposition and eventually the election,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and his efforts to convey the right image -- including having his teeth capped.
``Rudd was as much into image as he was into substance, Dr van Onselen said.
Scheduled for release on July 21 and co-written by Philip Senior,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], of Sydney University,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the book also gives juicy accounts of how Mr Rudd lost his temper when confronted with several scandals before the 2007 election.
These include revelations about the Brian-Burke organised dinner in Perth in 2005 and reports disputing his version of events surrounding his family's eviction from a Queensland farm after the death of his father,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Of the Burke dinner,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the book says: ``He was very worried that the saga would alienate his support base and end his dominance in the polls.
``So when Rudd returned to his offices after question time (in parliament) he was furious,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
``Like so many others, he was going to be vilified because he had dealings with Brian Burke.
``What a way to end his honeymoon run.
``Rudd took a moment to compose himself in his office before meeting with staff to discuss how they should respond,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].''
Dr van Onselen said the book also included controversial commentary from former Opposition leader Kim Beazley who was cynical towards the reasons Mr Rudd had opposed industrial relations reform.
