Hurricane Irene, Aftermath So now that Irene has come and gone, even though the damage wasn't catastrophic I was definitely without electricity for almost 3 days. I felt as thought I've thoroughly gotten a taste of the conditions in a post-apocalyptic world with everyone fighting over bottled water, belstaff sale women, ice and batteries. Being a child of technology and the internet, I was severely plagued with internet withdrawal as I had to conserve cellphone power. Ironically we went to my husband's parents house to charge up our stuff only to have their power go out 15 minutes later. :(The morning after Irene my husband woke me up around 7:30am to go “explore”. Don't I look beautiful LMAO.A decent amount of damage was done to the bridge nearest to my house. Most of the sidewalk is gone and if you look at the bridge you can see where it's no longer straight and stable. Even after the other bridges have been re-opened they've kept this one blocked off.The water at the “beach” was all the way up to the lifeguard stand, and the water level was meeting the edge of the docks. *I use the term “beach” loosely as they are beaches at the edge of lakes LOLBecause we were up so early my husband and I drove over this bridge, belstaff jacket shop, only after exploring the beach discovered they were closing it off.Even the “beach” near our house was severely flooded. These posts are normally NOT submerged in water. The most interesting part of the flooding, were the fish trying to swim across the sidewalk against the current of the water. We were the first in our area to lose power and the last to have it restored. At the other end of our street a large tree was knocked over during the storm and destroyed a telephone pole taking all the electrical wires with it. I'm so glad that no one I know was injured and I finally have power back. The real blessing was that in this massive loss in power the temperature has been really comfortable so we weren't sweltering inside. I definitely won't miss the deafening sound of generators running and the ear piercing squeal of my security alarm going off because the unit's batter finally died. LolSo all in all I've survived a hurricane and an earthquake all in one week. If I'm being tested, official belstaff jackets, I hope I've passed. :P Remember how I said I could've used more excitement after the earthquake I LIED! Excitement full to capacity over here! :D
