If you are wracking your mind over some easy methods to increase your meager salary, consider these six suggestions from finance experts and first-time employees:

1. Trade duties. Having problems starting your vehicle within the wee hours of the workday morning? To save cash,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ask a buddy or roommate for help before contacting an auto repair shop. If you cannot repair your car,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], maybe he or she can. "Trade such things as oil changes or fixing things round the apartment with friends to reduce on repair bills,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," suggests Erin Baehr,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a financial adviser at Baehr Family Financial in Stroudsburg, Pa. "Paying attention to where your hard earned money goes and just how much you have is crucial if you have a little margin of error,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she adds.
2. Shop at discount stores. Name-brand shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], designer jackets,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and fancy belts might seem to on-site visit for you when you pop into your nearest shopping mall. Even though it's tempting to delve out hundreds for a pricey piece of clothing or accessory for Monday's big meeting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that's usually not an option if you're on the shoestring budget. "Use the library for magazines or movie rentals or thrift shops for clothes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Baehr suggests. "There are a handful of nice places available with brand clothes for cheap." Baehr also encourages interns and entry-level employees to keep frugal company. "Try to not hang around people with expensive tastes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as that may cause you to feel dissatisfied or pressured into spending cash you don't have."
Stacey Kehaulani Torigoe,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a Seward,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Alaska-based intern for the Student Conservation Association,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], echoes Baehr's sentiments. She says discount-store shopping could be enjoyable if done right. "Shopping at thrift stores and yard sales is . a lot of fun,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she says. "I didn't bring that much with me to Alaska,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so I pretty much stocked an entire new wardrobe from thrift stores around and in Anchorage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and from neighborhood garage sales. There's this place called Ray's Reusables a few streets down bring in their used jackets or fishing poles or electronics or books,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Ray sells them,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with a cheerful,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 'What treasures have you find? Come back again and I'll have something different!'"
Torigoe says interns will find almost anything at thrift shops like Ray's. These shopping trips may even become fun group outings with peers. "I love going on rainy days with my roommates,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], be it fitting the craziest clothes we can find,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or searching for rope [to hang a bear bag while camping],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she says.
3. Get creative with your work commute. Lacking a reliable car to move you to definitely and from your new gig can present a challenge. "A younger worker may have an older vehicle,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], perhaps one he got in senior high school or college,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that may need repairs that he can't afford. Yet he's a tough time saving for any new car,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or affording an automobile payment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," says Baehr. But all hope isn't lost if you're stuck with a jalopy. With regards to car maintenance,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a little responsibility can go quite a distance. Baehr says her son encourages his fellow entry-level workers to become smart about gas and repair, and she agrees: "Take care of your car. Even though maintenance costs money,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], over time, it's a savings [benefit]."

Carpooling and biking to operate are other viable options because they cut costs and help preserve the environment. Torigoe bikes to operate regularly. "I'm riding a loaner bike in the National Park where Sometimes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and so i don't have to purchase gas or insurance and it is earth-friendly, too," she says,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], adding that using alternate modes of transportation has other benefits. "The park has an awesome alternative transportation program where employees log the miles they bike,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], walk,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or carpool,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and at the finish of the season, you can money in miles for a gift card or leave time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," she says.
